::wheeeeeee::

:: speechless:: last night i became the owner of a brand new, platinum grey volkswagen jetta 1.8 turbo. holy guacamole, batman! cheers to my friends patricia and will who went cruisin' with me last night up pch. i feel like i'm stuck in a dream, it is so unreal.

and, as michelle casually reminded me before i left work in a flurry of excitement, it is JUST A CAR.

ah, but, it is mine. my first. my precious.... :D did have one close encounter on the lot where i thought i was going to have to lick the handle. however, disaster was averted and the couple kept walking. i haven't figured out the strangest part of the experience, but i think what comes close is the end of the night, after nearly being there for four hours, and we are ready to go home. we walk outside into the chill night air, and the previa (my former car) is to the left of me, freshly washed and sparkling. the jetta, however, is directly in front of me, like a knight in shining armour. it is sleek and jaw-dropping beauty. and then there was much screaming and jumping for joy....

wow.

::use yer words!::

sitting at work, eating my soup, here on my lunch break. WOW. been a little sick lately and was so tired waiting in line @ big newport for matrix: reloaded. man, there are some real nut jobs who show up at those things. i mean, i love the movie, don't get me wrong, however i would not put a mop on my head and pasty white makeup on my face so that i could attend the show. it's fun to watch crazy people....

through my horrible head cold, i was able to witness the beauty of the second matrix movie. i still have the cold, so my writing is lacking profundity. This aside, all i can say is go see it for yourself. wow. will see it again when i'm feeling better.

on the other end of the spectrum, we are about to purchase our first vehicle. wheeeeeeeeee! more details later....or actually here you are:
2003 volkswagen jetta gls
platinum grey

wheeeeeeeeeee! (how soon before i take after mom in her younger days & start getting speeding tickets? place yer bets, gentlemen...)

::rabbit hole, reloaded::

umm, bought tickets to matrix: reloaded today. i'm going with a group from work to see the 10pm showing on the 14th at big newport by fashion island. this is what i've been waiting for!!! counting down the hours....!

::it's in the past, baby::

some strange turnings in my soul lead me to open up my high school yearbook today. i think i have pastor mike to blame :) all that talk about high school reunions.... it's extremely strange to think of the me that was back then compared to the me that is now. as much as i'd like to say it's better (and in many ways, yes, it is better) it's mostly just a different thing all together. all those feelings of angst and frustration as a teenager just change to fit the current conditions. now my world includes my OWN housework (when i do it, i just want to stay home all the time because i love this house so much!) and a mortgage and two cats and a husband and many bills to pay and appliances that break down and new desires to travel to distance lands --or las vegas, if my parents are willing to meet me ;) and what else? so much more. cars to fix and gas to fill the tank, registration stickers and rules and oh the trials of the heart as there is so much out there to WANT. i test drove a jetta for a day about a month ago: josh rented one for me. and i drove stick shift on our friend's new beetle and wow, i'm thinking, i could SO do this! the non-impulsive, money-conscious part of me balks completely at the idea as i would be paying more for the car than it is worth because of the cost of interest on a 5-year car loan. i know i could live with that, but do i really want to? i fight it every day. every day that jetta creeps a bit more under my skin (it has been for three years, since the body style changed). every day i resist it's another victory. and how silly does this all sound? i laugh at myself. oh, and there are still groceries to be bought and the house won't clean itself. and here i am just typing away all of these thoughts to whomever will aim to read them. humph.

i strive to be thoughtful in all my considerations. i enjoy writing. i like to make other people happy, and other times i'm too selfish to remember all of them. my friends. my family. even my faith. i know there's no way for me to make God happy: He doesn't need cheering up like you & me. i still try to follow along the path which has been so laid out for me in the Bible. it is so hard to do it when you aren't paying attention. it takes effort, thought, will, humility, and so much commitment. i don't suspect that i am the only one in this world to struggle with her faith. to balk at the challenges it throws my way. but i've felt so weak lately and it's been ages since i've felt so unseated as i do now. i'd like to place blame on anyone else but myself for the recent difficulty, but, shaking this head of mine at the computer screen, i know that's the wrong solution. (it's not a solution at all) so all i've got to cling to, and it really feels like just a single thread, is the fact that God has never left my side in all of this and that there is forgiveness knocking at my soul. every day is a new day and another chance i have been blessed with, in this life, to make a start. to concede and follow Him. it's a commitment not unlike marriage in that respect. because the light-hearted butterflies swimming in my stomach the first months/years of knowing josh aren't the same today. the butterflies are still there, but they are more like penguins. i mean that in the sense that they aren't going to fly away anywhere. they are grounded, steadfast, on solid ground. and my faith in God, though not as "exciting" as the first throes of love, all ripe and boiling over with enthusiasm, is still a constant thing for me. i know this because i feel the distance tearing at me when i spend time apart from God, while i'm busy seeking my own desires and trying to make things work on my own. and it's amazing to me how a simple conversation gets me thinking, or simply praying out loud with josh starts the journey back to the core of me. the core of us, too. because we're human, we need grace, God's grace, for each other. after all, i am not perfect and neither is josh! (big gasps of surprise....)

5.3.2003

::may i?::

so i'm stuck. on myself. and it's been a challenge to try to relate outside of my own skin lately. i think the extreme pressure i've been feeling at work really wears on me. and i've neglected a lot of things around me. the house got a long overdue cleaning because we have company (josh's cousin ron). even at that, it's only HALF clean. am promising myself that the other half deserves as much love. (it's jealous of the parts i scrubbed and cleaned) the thermostat went out this week and we have no heat. i know, it's may in southern california, what's wrong with me? well, it rained last night. i usually keep it at 68 degrees during waking hours and 65 while we're asleep. strangely, i'm deciding i don't miss it, and i'm really in no rush to have it fixed. i haven't shared this much with josh, but he's standing over my shoulder at the moment and i think he's about to find out. he's rubbing my shoulders and there's talk of sushi in the air, so i don't think i've much longer to type. my thoughts are coming much slower than my fingers today, but i blame the weekend and a late night viewing of x-men 2. which reminds me, i'm going to the midnight showing of matrix: reloaded on the 15th and am sooo excited. it's not often i act like i'm in college again, but these once in a while late nights are healthy for my youth, i think. ::sigh:: well, i should go as not to be rude. was so excited to be writing to you all again after a long overdue absence. will try, as always, to write more than i do. hope all is well with everyone. :)

::part deux::

i got lucky! after work, josh & i went to boomers! (formerly palace park) to hit the batting cages & air hockey. i suck at hitting balls, and when i did make contact, my metal bat trembled so strongely my hands became numb. air hockey was wonderful: josh won both games. the second game was technically unfinished because the machine shut off when we were tied 5 to 5. i'd like to accuse josh of cheating, since i helped him score more than once, but i believe he just does better at it than me. our normal game, house of the dead 2 only had one gun, and someone was playing house of the dead 3, so that's what led to the air hockey match. let me tell you, dinner @ wahoo's and less than $10 @ the fun park: i AM a cheap date! proud of it, too. ;)

::it's not half bad::

occasionally work days get extra silly and jokes fly about like spit-wads in a junior high classroom (i'll ask teri about this, but it's a theory i hold and it looks good on paper). today was not such a day. (Ha! caught you off guard did i?) i am feeling exhausted and i am left feeling drained and lethargic. my eyelids are dry, i'm congested, and it's been a day of getting nothing done. i can't figure it out. i worked, i know i did. i answered emails, and phone calls, and shipped out packages.... all i want to do now is curl up with a good book & and a hot chai @ gypsy den and just chill. it's all about the comfort food right now.

on the other hand, i could get lucky. ;)

::the beatles::

making a mix for my co-worker of different beatles albums and am totally convinced that abbey road and revolver are my top favorites. i get stuck on "she came in through the bathroom window" and "i'm only sleeping". plus, i'm a sucker for "eleanor rigby". i blame my piano teacher, linda mazich (govel now) for that: there was a time she just started playing it and she was so animated...it was a perfect moment. i'll never forget it. i wish someone would make music like this today, but jason faulkner and jon brion will come close, so obviously inspired. the most innovative out there today, doing their part to change the face of rock-n-roll? radiohead has my vote. locals i admire include peoplemover and, as of yesterday, bullets of orange. (links would be helpful. i promise you some in the future).

::a sorta fairytale::

album of the month for me would have to be scarlet's walk by tori amos. simply breath-taking beauty. i bought a book of sheet music in an effort to play like her and i'm nowhere near as talented. at least, not at sight-reading. i'm trying to get back into music more & more and as it goes, i am getting better. the piano still needs tuning, though it sounds remarkably in tune for as far as it has traveled. i have a tendency to play what i know or try making things up on my own rather than to practice. a habit josh promises to break as he insists i am much more talented then i let on. i will agree with him on that: i am playing beneath my abilities these days.

still trying desperately to figure out the balancing act of my life: how to juggle josh, housework, hanging with friends, going to the gym, OH! and work (ha ha ha) into one plausible lifestyle. perhaps i am trying to do too much, but something tells me it's not impossible. of course there is more to my existence than those five activities mentioned above: #4 certainly hasn't happened much at all since i've returned from vacation in february. my friend erin promises to whip me into shape now that she is back from her road trip and i am certainly dreading & looking forward to it all at once. it's for my own good! at any rate, timing has been something that i have been challenged with, not to mention my inability to keep in touch with friends and family. i mean, all this time that i have been away from my blog, i hadn't called my parents once! this is remedied, i assure you, but i just wish i could get a bit more caught up with things. it's a process, and, i'm learning.

things are so different being married. i mean this in the sense that there is more to consider in making plans and determining how the day goes. do we carpool to work or take two separate cars? starbucks or no starbucks? who gets to keep the car? feed the cats, empty the cat box. eat. gym or no gym? (no gym...) what movie do you want to see? do you want to rent one instead? ok, these are all very trite things, but those are the sort of things that fly around our household these days and i'm telling you, every day is a new day with new decisions. some of the most excitement in our lives has come from the following:

"would you feed the cats?" (me)
"ok." (josh)
"oh MAN!" "Sheesh!" "Dangit!"
"What's wrong?"
"Ants!!!!"
"(sigh) Do you need my help?" (silent prayer. i HATE ants. i know i will help, but i still ask.)
"i'll be all right."
"ok" (a minute later, i rise from my comfortable hole in bed and put down my book. the ants are here by the hundreds: a black line tramps through the carpet and encircles the dishes of cat food) "i hate ants!!!"

such is our exciting life! this has happened twice in the past 2 weeks. i had a bad feeling when our first year in this house went by without incident. california is, apparently, built on an ant hill. i am so ordinary.... :)

::earth to earth::

early easter a.m. here. i'm ready for bed but feel that, deservedly, that my readers deserve an update. sadly, not much of one to give! josh & i have been extrememly busy with work and just life in general: taxes, bill paying, you know, the exciting stuff. (!) we've actually had quite a time of it getting together with friends & family (saturday was a busy one!) and at any rate, it's challenging at best to keep up with this at times.

my comments feature seems to have fallen off the face of the earth, but i guess that's ok since i only had one person ever write to me in it ;) (thank you, sarah!). can't say i'll be hunting down that feature again in the near future. it could happen though!

with that, i am exhausted and off to bed. Happy Easter everyone and God bless you!

::deep into the rabbit hole::

it's a simply gorgeous day here in southern california. the kind that wants to be played in. i am at work. inside the cool air conditioned building, i sit at my computer, blinking and typing. work work work. gosh i just want to get out of here! but, not alone. i'd take one or two buddies with me. let us have a half day! i beg you! oh, wait, i think i forgot myself for a moment.

i pat my head several times throughout the day today. where is my hair? where did it go? in the shower this morning, i could hardly stand the feel of it as i tried to clean all the little clippings stuck on my strands of hair. it's WEIRD!

the time clock tells me i must get return to my regularly scheduled programming. (ohmygosh, english IS my second language!)

::the cat's miaow::

on the superficial level in my life, i finally got the pixie haircut i've been working up to all this time. "b" cut & cut until it turned out just right. we shared travel tales (she just returned from italy) and joked about the steak that was thawing in her kitchen. it's been there for 36 hours. on the counter. no air conditioning. she's worried about the stench?! i suppose i'd be a better friend to her if i offered to go home with her and make sure it wasn't moving....but i didn't!

the throat is feeling much much better. i don't know yet whether the zyrtec is the source of all my troubles, but i will wait to find out: stuffed nose & itchy watery eyes and all.

Tuesday, April 08, 2003

::still???::

everyday i wake up
and
i try to swallow a glass of water
and
i feel like someone has vacuumed all the moisture
out of my throat
and caressed it
with
sandpaper

i am still clueless as to what is causing this, so i am quitting all the zyrtec (which promises sore throats as a nasty side affect) and will wait and see if my self-doctoring pays off. i still take ibuprofen once a day to stave off the daily aches, but come on now: the fever is gone! i'm not sick! (insert monty python voiceover here) i'm getting better!

on a somber note, both sarah's husband, bill, and josh's cousin, gary, were shipped out last week. it's hard to know what to say or feel. this is a new & unnerving experience for me, among many others. we are praying for your safe return, men!

::road to recovery::

mom's home remedies (gargling with salt water!) still work: even webmd endorses them! josh is down for the count too. such impeccable timing for the weekend!

Friday, April 04, 2003

::bored to tears::

home sick today with horrible sore throat (is that thingy that dangles at the back of my throat normally that read & swollen???) and feverish chills. this sucks! not enough energy to tackle housework or laundry, more than enough for lying in bed all day...i think. so, here it is, my top five things to do when you're sick:

1. read
(perhaps i'll make it through fellowship of the ring in the LOTR trilogy)

2. watch a movie
(close encounters has #1 priority here: i've never seen it!)

3. drink
(juice, water, soup, anything. josh bought this soy juice beverage yesterday which is a scary shade of pink, but quite delicious. he describes it as drinking strawberry oatmeal. i had to let that thought sit for almost 10 minutes before i could bring myself to take a sip!)

4. surf the net
(quietly, the internet takes me all sorts of places beyond my sickly world of nonproductive behavior. i am finding i am too tired to type though. will try to squeeze in an email here & there)

5. sleep
(ah yes, random naps every few hours as i collapse from exhaustion)

::ode to chips::

have'a corn chips are delicious. by themselves. with salsa. especially the fresh salsa that the business-to-business food service "lori's kitchen" brings to The Company. umm. yummy.

just finished work here obviously and as you can tell, the brain cells are kind of colliding with each other to for a rather mushy gray matter . and me, i am wishing i could write something abundantly more creative! give a girl a break, will ya?! i try....

::new zealand travel diary::

::a diary of my travels, part one::

13.02.03

LAX 9:15pm

the terminal for united airlines international is alive with passengers awaiting flight 841 non-stop to auckland. the status board displays the words "ON TIME" in bright red letters.
we have perused the shops in our little neck of the terminal. i still want to visit the duty-free, but i can't think of any expensive perfume i would want to buy, and i don't have a need from booze or smokes. i forked over $12.84 at one location for a pack of chewing gum (it helps with de-pressurizing my ears) and a small watch with a black vinyl strap embossed with purple, pink, and red flowers. it is LOVELY. woo hoo!
the ride here to the airport was scarier than the "orange alert" issued earlier this week. i mean that in the sense that i felt a real and imminent threat to my being. driving neck-and-neck with a lazy-laned fedex truck should never be the ambition of an airport taxi.
only a short time now before boarding. i wish i had my cell phone on me all-of-a-sudden. one last phone call to my parents would be pleasant.

15.02.03

en route/6:55am NZ time/6187 mi. (9961km) traveled/37.000 ft in the air....

slept off and on last night. what's the word for that? fitfully? even if i'm wrong, that word always brings to mind images of restlessness, unrest, and all the rest...
we are leaving our world behind, realizing there is nothing to be done about the past or even the present. we are out of the usa and onto kiwi territory (yeah for middle-earth!).
they broadcast paul mccartney's back in the us concert on channel 2 of sky-radio. it is looped over and over (didn't i listen in during hey jude 7 hours ago???) nice!
it is less than one hour till we land. so close to australia! we almost had the chance to take a connector flight to sydney, but i know it would have only been a glimpse of last years honeymoon (!).
this is the first time i didn't watch an entire movie on a flight this long.
kept my shoes on for the most part & only my ankles swelled.
the sunrise is rich with orange and yellow against the brightening blue sky.
points of travel: land in auckland, go to piopio, taupo, napier, wellington, and nelson. mix in car rental and puddle jumpers for a brief preview of it all.

15.02.03

PioPio, New Zealand, 4:55 pm @ carmel farms

if there is one place in this world i wish i could send my parents to, it's here. rams grass outside our bedroom, just beyond the sliding glass door and the deck that extends from it. rams with black faces and fat creamy wool bodies, nibbling in the shade. the landscape is lush green and the flowers are uniquely shaped and colorful.
this is the place.
this is the place.

16.02.03

PioPio 12:16 pm

we're leaving shortly. dinner: roast chicken, gravy, buttery mashed potatoes with capers, kumera (sweet potatoes, but different from those sold in the states), red wine, white wine, homemade cheesecake with a sweet tart apricot topping and fresh whipped cream. homemade from the 500 cows on hand (not all 500 were necessary to produce the whipped cream which was consumed). breakfast was cereal, fresh homemade bread and tea w/milk from the cows. REAL milk?!? my mother would be (is) jealous.
very relaxing. josh & i are enjoying ourselves very much. my hair is soft from the water here (so much nicer than "city" water)
the rooster crowed this morning: twice!
funny incident occurred as i looked on from the deck: 2-3 men were trying to move 2 mules down the road a block. the mules are squirley. a car approaches, slows. way. down. mules find their path. car leaves. much funnier to watch than to describe.
alas, it is time! this visit is all too brief.
i hope that we (josh & i) can stop dreaming about work!

11:10pm. Napier
what an exhausting day! stopped in Taupo for a while. walked around by the lake, ate (yummy food!). josh had a go at the hole in one challenge: try to hit a golf ball so many meters (100?) across the lake and onto this floating island. no luck, but a couple close calls!
Napier is nothing out of the ordinary, but we just got here close to sunset and are visiting with friends. i'm buggered and ready for bed! cheers....

17 february 2003

Air New Zealand flight to Napier, 5:35pm
i love these flights.
1st, h2o served in plastic containers sealed with foil.
2nd mumblemumblemumble says the flight attendent. i nod yes & am handed a curious translucent green plastic mug ("ExpressMate") with a cap on it. upon further inspection, i find:
a chocolate chip cookie, a small and rather transparent aqua-colored spoon, a packet of suger, a miniature tub of milk and a napkin (or, serviette as they are called)
hummm....

our flight attendents are older gentlemen (older than me!). one looks like a surfer, the other looks like he sells vaccuums door-to-door. they move steathily. handing out one goody after another. water, expressmates, "tea or coffee?". they are swift and sure, tackling the tasks that get them through the 35 minute flight. it is lovely.
"This coffee tastes like processed sausage."
"I mean, with coffee like this, who needs vaccuum-sealed meat bi-products!?"
--josh

i strongely suggest you consume the tea,
NOT THE COFFEE
next time you find yourself flying Air New Zealand.

No. What was just announced was gale like winds in Wellington. 110km/hr
Lovely.

(Lord of the Rings, p.50--progress!>

10:57 pm Wellington Very Windy

dinner at the white house was 1st rate. recommended by Nancy's friend Daniel. Only a minute's walk down one steep hill reminiscent of San Francisco and we arrived.
new music warms our ears tonight care of the airport music store and the local who knows his stuff. yee! very much enjoying it. i sort of feel like vacation is starting all over, especially since we hopped a plane to get here. what a ride that was too. was the first time in my life i felt the fear of death at my door (with the exception of riding on a roller coaster). wellington is a mighty windy city and i think the only thing that saved me was the calmness of the flight attendants.
hope to take wonderful pictures of this place we're staying. it is amazing. yet another place i would send my parents. the people of New Zealand are incredibly warm and hospitable.

of note:

our room contains: a towel rack with a built in warmer (and the shared bath has one mounted on the wall!)
also, a picture of a giant cat with green, yellow, and red stripes holding a pink fish in it's mouth as it walks out of the ocean and onto the shore. the unusually large cat towers over boats and people alike. it is very colorful.

below this house is a street and then the oriental bay. there are trees hung with small white lights (like you would see during Christmas) and it is so so beautiful. so peaceful.

18 february 2003

GlenAlton @ Oriental Bay light drizzle

sitting in our room on a small pinkish-rust coloured sofa. we are rooming at a homestay, did i mention that? it is beautiful, built circa 1903. our bedspread is all white and filled with down feathers. very cozy last night and my back doesn't hurt at all.

our night in Napier is a different story! neither josh nor i could locate any blankets or pillows, so we procurred some bath towels and cuddled. when josh's dad awoke early to shower, there was only one towel left, which had been used the night before. a short time later, i awoke, freezing and still tired, i wandered into the bedroom (we were in the common area) and i hoped for blankets or anything. luck found me with 2 flowery twin comforters and 2 standard pillows! stripping the bath towels from our makeshift quarters, i rolled them up and tossed them into the bathroom. i then tucked josh & i in and we both slept past our 10 o'clock check out time. the funniest part is that when josh's dad walked back in shortly after this happened. he had been directly outside and it puzzled him greatly that these towels mysteriously appeared when no one had come through the door and he had not yet had a chance to ask for more!

it is raining heavier now. we are still listening to our new music. bic runga is verygood! so glad the clerk recommended it!

::a diary of my travels, part two::

19 february 2003

Motueka, outside of Nelson, 7:35 pm

our plans changes suddenly when the reservations we had just outside of abel tasman national park were canceled due to some confusion with the dates. a minor setback, however, as we are now staying at a lovely bed & breakfast hosted by Laura and Sandro.

The scenery is gorgeous. we are on beachfront property. i will take more pictures than i have at this point. sadly i neglected to take pictures earlier, though only because i had no film for my camera! i feel like i haven't written for two days!

yesterday we saw whale rider, a beautiful film about a Maori family. of course there is much more to it then that, but at the moment i am trying to get everything down. all i can say is: go see it! June 6 is the date it is due out in the states. call me. i will go with you! the incredible soundtrack is by Lisa Gerrard of Dead Can Dance fame. i don't believe a cd is available though, but maybe someone will change their mind.

Thoughtfully,....i am reminded of there being more on this earth than my own little world. i am also pleased to be challenged by my own sense of mortality (air new zealand puddle-jumpers are very bouncy!) i pray through this as well as other recents dicoveries that i will stick to the following: cease trying things on my own and realize the full extent of God's sovereignty in my life. i have been far too self-absorbed lately & i need that to cease & desist. there are other people in my life to be concerned with.

quote of the day

"your bones are well traveled"--josh

"nice!"--josh

by josh... Abel Tasman National Park
Such an amazing and inspiring place to visit. Tomorrow we will get even closer. In the meantime, the Italians and the Bohemians have been very accomodating...

20 february 2003

Motueka, 7-ish
drove around a lot. i am learning that in New Zealand, Kiwi's frequently hop jets to visit other parts of their county. it is very inexpensive for them to travel domestic and i think some government agency helps to fund that. don't quote me on it though.
also, townes are rather spread apart from each other. went to golden bay and takaka today, as well as locations in between (see this guide to new zealand via lord of the rings film locations). so much beauty. i think a lot of how the actore might have felt as they traveled all over this beatiful, breathtaking landscape. everything is amazing. it rained off & on today. when it rained, there were big, fat, wet drops and the sky was heavy with moisture. the wet drops seemed to move in slow motion....

i had a lot of time to think during our drive. Kiwi's play a lot of the same stuff on the radio as what we call "top 40". it is interesting to travel as a family because i haven't done so in a long time. traveling with large groups always involves compromise. tomorrow should be GRAND (aside from the early am wakeup call). Maybe even some horse trekking???
josh & i will drive "into towne" tonight. yeah for adventures in driving on the left side of the road. (i will not freak out, i will not freak out....)
who knows if we will end up at the cinema. wedo not have a booking & the movie schedule says it begins at 8:30. i wonder if a lot of people try to go? only 5 seats? that's crazy! (that rabbit cuts it's own hair? that's crazy!)

9:20pm. Hot Mama's
josh & i are out on our own, which is nice. the decor is nice: bright red walls and dark wood tables complemented by black sconces and pillows. the server here remembers us from last night & though we tried several other venues, no one serves this late. past 9 o'clock that is.

::a diary of my travels, part three::

21 february 03

8:14 am, Grey Heron Bed & Breakfast
dressed & ready to go, only to learn that i've a little time for r&r; before we drive to abel tasman national park. we are taking the "Aqua Taxi" to Big Tonga, where we will walk around & relax for a few hours before heading home. what a change of pace. i hope the pictures i will be taking might begin to describe the beautiful sights. i think i will take a nap....(if you could read the actual book i wrote in, you would notice that the more tired i am, the smaller my writing becomes. it is very very small here!)
quote of the day

" we should be silent now...because when we get in the car, all of the talking is going to bring us back into a National Oxygen Shortage again!"--josh
10:29 pm
abel tasman ntl park is AWE-full! we hiked 4 km from Big Tonga (Onetahuti Beach) to Anchorage. Amazing views that also seem surreal. breathtaking foliage, unbelievable water filled with water-color-like painted on colors: blue, deep blue, teal, and aqua blue. sandy beaches that are white gold, golden tan and strewn with grains of black sand. that sand sparkled with bits of glittery golden grains. will my photos even begin to capture the beauty? i doubt it. i do believe it is the most gorgeous place on earth. i am tired out, but it is a good sort of exhaustion.

10:16pm, nelson, rutherford hotel
left our Italian hosts today for a day of r&r; in nelson. our hotel is just a door away from the jewler who crafted the ONE ring to rule them all for Lord of the Rings. What--quelle chance!
dined tonight @ the Boat Shed which was lovely. ate mussels in a wonderful sauce with capers. yummy. this trip has included many wonderful meals.

[on a side note, rambo: first blood is on the tv in our hotel room right now & i have never watched in before. i no longer think it is some "stupid action flick" based on this final scene @ the close of the movie. the closing song is dumb though.]

23 february 03

7:41am, nelson, rutherford hotel
lame song (bob segar: against the wind) plays on our alarm clock, sadly singing of our soon departing.
i am missing this place already.
::of note: josh had terrorist dreams last night and both of us feel a bit uneasy. if the article in Time Magazine that caught my eye is true, people in the states have gone a little nuts, buying up water & duct tape. i don't really want to go back. i want to defect to australia and though the threat could be anywhere, i want to know when it stops. when the fear stops ruling our lives. it's not healthy to live like this. that, my friends, is why we're going to was. (song that came to mind as i was writing: Freedom, Paul McCartney)::

the sunlight streams over the horizon & alights on the houses on the hill, changing and shifting their colours to a soft yellowish white. it is beautiful.
must get one more schweppes sparkling lemon, one more Lift before we leave. no fish & chips but lots of fish everywhere i went--yummy! i think i had chicken or lamb on a couple of occasions.

today we hop from nelson to auckland & hang there until 6ish, when our flight departs for lax.

::a diary of my travels, part four::

23 february 03

12:17pm, auckland, en route

just arrived from nelson & are taking a taxi (a toyota previa!) to Queen Street, aka, the Viaduct. it's very pleasant here & the driver agreed to pick us up at 4pm and deliver us to the airport.
it is suburban here. reminds me of....long beach? older homes. stone, brick, wood: varied construction. we are on our way to meet mykeljon, a friend of josh's from a colaboration project that sonik was working on.
this is our last kiwi experience before we head for the states. we have seen some FUNNY road signs! (the "slippery when wet" sign at the bottom of this page is classic)...

back at the airport

For I dipped into the future, far as human eye could see,
Saw the vision of the world, and all the wonder that would be;
Saw the heavens fill with commerce, argosies of magic sails,
Pilots of the purple twilight, dropping down with costly bales
--Lord Tennyson, excerpt as painted on the wall at Auckland International Airport

the longest day goes on...which time would you have?
it is 9:15pm, saturday, 02.22.03 in LA
or 6:15pm, sunday, 23.02.03 in NZ
welcome to the switch!
we had a lovely time with mykeljon & family. auckland is one of my favorites on this trip, but i think it has much to do with the people we were visiting. we are still in pre-flight status & i am excited to come back and anxious all the same. mykeljon's wife, stephanie, just moved to new zealand a few weeks ago & i know she is excited to be in a safer place for her daughter. the states seem to have such a crazy mentality: i can't stand the fear & only being in another place do i find my perspective changed and it does me good. i like traveling & i think that josh does as well. we want to spend more time abroad--it's a dream of ours.

the songs are but a timid distraction
there is softness in my heart
for these travels still thunder in my head
commanding my attention
sun peeks over the wing
beckoning
brightening
bidding farewell
it is a departure less thought of
less waiting for
only one day
we'll be greeted again
to return to see the all-black flag
waving high above
i could cry but for the joy it brings
so glad am i to travelyonder
across our ocean (nearly 7,000 miles!)
we share a common water to bridge the mighty gap between hither and thither.
(first draft)

so, back from whence i came. returning to a hurried, rushed, busyland. but, God willing, i will cling to this, their little bit of culture or thought. perhaps 'twill make a better world. what of: kiwi friendliness, openess, relaxed un-stressed nature & i hope our west (their east) never corrupts that. let restaurant dining be a relxed experience. let life be enjoyed fully.

**author's note: i see how tired i was when i wrote this! i will have to make some revisions (eventually). at least this is all typed up! :-)**
**fifth and final installment to follow**

::news from wellington::
traveling to new zealand only confirms my love for going abroad. though i am still in love with sydney, this has been quite an adventure. our stay has included a brief sojourn in auckland, on to piopio, to taupo, napier and on a plane to wellington, where we are now. tomorrow we leave for nelson.

it has been quite different seeing things this way: traveling with josh's family is a compromise. though you wouldn't find me complaining, i will tell you we have different tastes in travel. i much prefer the lightly planned travel path and this has been extremely thought out and very busy.

kiwis are astoundingly friendly, polite, talkative, and generous. i fell in love with carmel farms in an instant, barbara & leo are such lovely people.

at anyrate, i will leave this rough & unfinished because i am at a cafe & don't have the time to think that i would like to. cheers!

::a day::

leisurely drive to heather's house today to visit my nephews. my ipod keeps me company and i enjoy the uneventful drive by my lonesome. the scenery is like a patchwork quilt: bright yellow and orange flowers trim the asphalt path. there are groupings of green, sedona-like patterns in the red rock, and even a hill that looks like a hand, with grooves in it where fingers should be.

Tom's Farm. Who is Tom? "Fresh Fruit" the sign boasts. i veer from my destination for a moment. hoards of people scattered amongst the acres, various farm-style houses with yellow wood siding and green trim call to me. "Wine and Cheese" it says. i park, carefully exiting the passenger's side door because a lady is changing her kid's diaper. whew. past the roasted corn on the cob (did that at Bondi Beach in Sydney last year. not as exciting as it sounds). past the popcorn (is it kettle corn? i am not close enough to tell).
into the shoppe i go, a heaven of smoked fish and meat, salami, cheese, wine, pie, sauces and spices and saurkraut. saurkraut! i end up with a jones peach juice beverage, hot french bread, dry salami encrusted with herbs (herbs!) and a "cheese torte: with kalamato olives and topped with sweet red peppers". heaven! i never do find the fresh fruit the sign bragged about. i must move on.

knocking at the door, a small voice from inside bounces excitedly into my ears. i love visiting my nephews.

::thank you::

unspoken
through music and lyrics i hear you
these songs are yours
and i'm writing this for you
though you may never know

honestly now
is there something wrong
in a world where we cannot coexist
without conflict
without difficulty
without regret
that is me without you

love flickers in the distance
casts a warm glow on memories
past is dim
beaming faintly through the darkness
you are there

i raise my hand
one final gesture of goodwill
confident in the decision
i turn
and
i go

there is something to be said about music and it's affect on me. one single sound takes me back to a memory as though i were reliving it all over again. it tortures me at times, but i love it. dido's music will always remind me of the time monty ran away.
i am currently eating up itunes (because i didn't eat dinner?) and customizing my playlist for ipod. josh has made me an apple fanatic.

i'm off to albertacos. yummy.

::tortilla soup::

wahoo's is amazing. i love wahoo's. i was so incredibly hungry today after going to the gym with E___. did you ever read les miserables? i was always terribly confused when they wouldn't finish the person's name. there were so many anonymous characters in the beginning that i just gave up. never made it past page 800. but this year...i will read lord of the rings, don quixote, and maybe give the good old college try to les miserables again. unabridged versions all of them, i promise you.

having a heck of a time trying to get to sleep at a decent hour. i have re-discovered my love for making mixes and have burned 3 mix cd's since saturday. still perfecting the art as i am out of practice, but i recall a time in high school & afterwards where i made mix tapes for my best friends and for a road trip to vegas when i was 20. oohh. that was a fun time. and i think i will start making those mixes again. as part of a new years sort of resolution i have going in my mind. one of many plans. january 1st is long gone, you think, can i possibly not procrastinate?

am happily living in present day right now as i spent a week in my introspective little world. it's not fun there. i mean, it's good, but it gets old after a while.

josh & my one year anniversary comes up on sunday. you'll forgive me if i don't return your phone calls or emails, right?

signing off ... ciao!

::beautiful night::

last night was FUN. after the gym with erin (i'm getting buff! ha ha ha) we ended up at gypsy den w/ erin, me, josh, george, & gina. ate dinner, then some more friends popped in unexpectedly and we all ended up at the lodge across the street for a drink. a fun time.

spending lots of time downloading music these days. anything from fiona apple to jon brion to neil diamond or the soggy bottom boys (oh brother, where art thou? is so great! who would have thought it was all based on the odessy? it was never this fun reading it in high school.)

too much thinking going on and i don't know what to write about exactly. still stewing on recent thoughts and not quite sure how to cope with the whole thing. it is plain to see that some moving on needs to happen. one way or the other, it's not good to remain in limbo.

there you have it. in the words of eddie izzard, "ciao".

::how can you do that?::

i have strange dreams sometimes, though this is the first one i can vividly recall in a long time. saw a friend i hadn't seen in a long time & things were pleasant between us. we're sitting in her car talking & catching up, and this old guy (grey hair, thin, frighteningly determined) starts walking toward us. he plans to allure us with cigarettes and my friend throws the car in reverse and we pass him by. somehow he hops into the car with us and is sharing the driver's seat with her. then I realize we're rolling forward and i save us by stepping on the brake, which is miraculously at my feet.

the other is far less spectacular. i'm at work reviewing the large stack of 100's of faxed w-9 forms, praising myself for the successful campaign to get this project done in time for us to issue 1099's to our independent contractors. as i am thumbing through the paperwork, i realize that the same person has sent the same information to us, like, 50 times, upon which i melt in defeat.

go figure. i'm not making these up. they are too weird.

on the other side of things, i am here all the time these days. there is this sadness that washes over me when i think on times of old and wonder why things have to change and why they have to get screwed up along the way when you try so hard to make things work. so hard, in fact, that you live in this sort of constant state of regret and self-torture. would dr. laura have told me to do differently? (just kidding, by the way) i don't know what i could possibly do to heal things between us, but tears that have welled up inside me and flow freely down my cheeks. unable to move on, for the time being, i will follow along and watch her grow up and away from afar. and i'll write, and maybe one day, she'll write back, or maybe i'll go on my way and accept the idea that our paths have permanently separated, never to intertwine again, never to experience the sort of faithfulness one usually only sees in marriages.

::from the heart::

i finally let go of the tissue i'd been clinging to since we left the grave site. it was warm from the touch of my grasp. it was dry from lack of use. any sorrow was experienced the first 24hrs. & i moved on. and now, sitting on the steps of her home, the concrete cold against my skin through the thin layer of this cheap velvet skirt, i try to figure it all out.
it's just after the new year and, at this time of rebirth and new promises to better one's self, i am trying to find my resolution. looking on the life of family members who have succumbed to death's grasp and gone on to meet their Maker is just such the springboard i need to cease my apathy and laziness. i think it's the place that i am in right now, at any rate.
in the background, the voices of family carry through the open windows and reveal their identity to the listening ear. varied stories of sadness and joy pierce the chill morning air, overpowering the nearby chirping from the neighbor's antennae. what am i doing here, on this earth, what purpose do i have? i'm feeling, currently, like i don't belong here: celebrating the life of a person i hardly knew. did i already say this? i wish i had known her better. she has a picture of me in her house. where is mine of her? but it's nice to know how she thought of me. it's nice to know i was loved, as i surely do love her.

::cheers::

here's to the new year. always a sign of rebirth, like a phoenix rises from the ashes....no, wait, that was harry potter's latest.... a day of laziness, paul mccartney's back in the us dvd (so awesome!) and movie going w/ erin & george. i nearly broke my ankle tonight on their stairs. nothing like the fear of a disabling injury to remind you about health insurance (where IS that id card....).

alas, nothing witty left here. or maybe there is, but really, i just want to sleep!!!

happy new year!

::anytime::
I see a dog upon the road
Running hard to catch a cat
My car is pulling to a halt
The truck behind me doesn’t know
Everything is in the balance
Of a moment I can’t control
And your sympathetic strings
Are like the stirrings in my soul

I could go at anytime
There's nothing safe about this life
I could go at anytime

Find the meaning of the act
Remember how it goes
Every time you take the water
And you swim against the flow
The world is all around us
The days are flying past
And fear is so contagious

But I’m not afraid to laugh
I could go at anytime
There’s nothing safe about this life
I could go at anytime

Anytime (come without warning)
Anytime (it could be so easy)
A walk in the park (or maybe when I’m sleeping)
Anytime (see the clouds come over)
Rain or shine (I make you so unhappy)
Lets make it right

I feel like I’m in love
With a stranger I’ll never know
Although you’re still a mystery
I’m so glad I’m not alone

I could go at anytime
There’s nothing safe about this life
Make it so easy to fly in the night
I could go at anytime
I could go at anytime

::more than this::

i woke up and the world outside was dark
all so quiet before the dawn
opened up the door and walked outside
the ground was cold

i walked until i couldn’t walk any more
to a place i’d never been
there was something stirring in the air
in front of me, i could see

more than this
more than this
so much more than this
there is something else there
when all that you had has all gone
and more than this
i stand
feeling so connected
and i’m all there
right next to you

it started when i saw the ship go down
i saw them struggle in the sea
and suddenly the picture disappears
in front of me

now we’re busy making all our busy plans
on foundations built to last
but nothing fades as fast as the future
and nothing clings like the past, until we can see

more than this
more than this
so much more than this
there is something out there
more than this
it’s coming through
and more than this
i stand alone and so connected
and i’m all there
right next to you

oh then it’s alright
when with every day another bit falls away
oh bus its still alright, alright, alright
and like words together we can make some sense

much more than this
way beyond imagination
much more than this
beyond the stars
with my head so full
so full of fractured pictures
and i’m all there
right next to you
so much more than this
there is something else there
when all that you had has all gone
and more than this
i’m alone
feeling so connected
and i’m all there right next to you

more than this
more than this
more than this
more than this

::sunday::
the melancholy i seek out is underwhelming. it will not overtake me. i have been sitting at this keyboard a long while this morning, making various decisions, and one of them is to be happy in the new year. it seems like so much of experiencing life is intertwined with little tragedies along the way, but i don't buy into the fact that that is what gets us along in our years here. i think we want to buy into it at times, but what is wrong with being satisfied with how things are? is it a generational thing to seek out the drama and the difficulty and grow them up into something bigger (better) than us? it seems like it is a trend, from my humble observations. i don't think this world is THAT horrible, as a matter of fact i think i am lucky to be where i'm at and especially in oc we should see how good (albeit sheltered) we have it (current tragedy aside). there is this idea that has been floating around in my head for a couple of days that questions decisions i've made and am i really happy and you know, it's a choice that we make. to have joy in our lives despite the pain around us.

i want to be a writer, a musician, a teacher, a thinker, a Christian, a lover, a friend, a seamstress, a poet, a lyricist, a film-score composer, a film aficionado; some of things are already a reality. some things have not been thought of yet. that's the great thing about life is that you have all these choices in font on you, and hopefully it doesn't overwhelm you so much that you shrink in front of it and run away.

happy new year!

::correspondence::
--e--
just so you know it's not just flippant and cute for me to hate the government so much, here's one reason why:
well there was a protest in the area that you will never hear about on tv over an incident that you will also not likely hear about unless you get your news from a bbc source or impartial US source...

Currently a new rule requires that any non-US citizens from certain countries must register that they are here. Have you heard about this? I have, and couple people I know have, but most have not because it was never publically announced. Well in another set of mass round-ups by AshKKKroft, earlier this week 5 visiting people between the ages of 13 and 26 in So Cal were detained for 72 hours in a cell without a toilet or a water fountain. The 26 year old died...

But who cares right?

Anyhow, this is my new favorite INS policy as of late...

The INS has also said that it cannot provide information regarding a Pakistani citizen who died in its custody unless Human Rights Watch produces a document with the man's signature indicating his consent to the release of information. The man, Mohammed Butt, died on October 23 allegedly of unspecified heart problems.

--me--
hey, wasn't trying to make light of your opinions...i'm a bit apathetic (and sadly so) on the subject of current events. as much as i listen to the news, i still haven't really formed an opinion for myself on all the goings on. on the surface, things seem to be going well (if i look at my little square footage that i reside in here in OC). it seems like sept. 11 threw us into a spiral...go defend ourselves, remember those innocent people who perished. josh tries to talk with me about this stuff and i am just clueless. is it wrong? to be this ignorant? perhaps. my view is mostly emotional and less based on what's going on.

on what i heard this morning: i am not surprised at the tactics being used on those people being held on various suspicions (warranted or not) that hint at torture...but it definitely creeps me out. the idea that it is even closer to home than an island out in the Indian Sea, well, that creeps me out more.

so, some opinions here and there, but not enough to hold a really knowledgeable conversation on the subject. there are so many layers to what is going on. though i generally consider myself conservative, i don't even know what it means anymore. too many lines are blurred. for the most part, i think that we have it better here in the US than some countries...again, based loosely on perception & even less on fact. the star spangled banner still sends shivers down my spine, but where is that long lost glory the song speaks of?

::::those recent minutes::

just was looking for someone else's words to speak my mind and couldn't find anything.

::Christmas::

it's my josh who is reminding me of the true meaning of Christmas this year as i sure haven't felt it in the world around me. i've failed to recreate the decorated home of Christmas past (my childhood) as i simply don't have enough Christmasy "stuff" to go around--it took me less than an hour to unpack the boxes of goodies and deck the halls of my home. josh is satisfied, but not i. apparently my heart wasn't big enough to cover the pocket book on one occasion, and for that i am hugely disappointed & very grieved. better luck next time? or does this ex-banker need to balance the checkbook more often?

back to the meaning of Christmas. i have found it in my immediate family: josh, the kids: monty and mango, right here at home. the tree which is only partly decorated this year (mango is still very much a kitten at heart & doesn't know what to make of the new toy we've brought into the house) stands tall, lit by white lights which were meant for trimming houses (they have a white cord, not a green one). and i have found peace in this.

Merry Christmas!

::part deux::

what a nice time. truly. spent the afternoon and early evening with my sister & her husband's family. i deserve a medal for being able to put my nephew, jonathan, down for bedtime at the end of the night--that's something his mom can't even do! my handicap, however, is that he missed his nap & had been extremely worn out by all the visitors!

my mood is much improved over the recent 24hours, a most definite relief to my spirit. i did not need the undo burden of hurt feelings/anger hanging heavy on my heart. God is good. :-)

12.22.2002

::shopping::
an exhausting day is nearly at a close. i don't know that i've achieved anything noteworthy, but i did finish shopping & assembling my gift to my parents. i listened to the maltese falcon as i butchered pictures, broke picture frames, and cursed at the cat for disturbing the peace. mango is so hyper tonight.

12.14.2002

::saturday::
i love the sound my fingers make when i type extra fast. it sounds so efficient--as though tons and tons of work is being demolished before my very eyes. little packets of information being placed into their proper location within my computer. can it really be just ones and zeros?!

was truly inspired by the peter gabriel concert we attended on wednesday. i am also amazed at the vast differences in concert-going culture. it definitely varies depending on the venue one attends. let's just say that the staples center does not attract the introspective musician in large enough quantities to allow for a truly 100% attentive audience. mostly the beer drinking pot smoking wild drunken screaming join the bandwagon cause peter hasn't been on tour with a new album for a decade our favorite song isn't from the current album no respect for African natives playing tribal instruments sort of people. but i still had a great time.

12.5.2002

::never::
i've never been the organized type to sit down & think out these blogs. normally i just write when i am inspired. i'm at work & i'm inspired.

i've never been able to travel as much as i like. josh & i love going to places & exploring them for the first time together. sydney was like that. someday we hope new york is like that too. we are famous for spur of the moment decisions, and if the pocketbook allowed, i think we would just go whenever we had the time. certainly more than we do now. there are some cool hotels around the world & i am looking forward to exploring all of them.

ok, well, the inspiration has left me & work is requiring my resources again. to this i will return. (i always feel the need to close with something....i must stop that!)

12.1.2002

::this weekend::
can't bring myself to leave this place even though i could. josh is playing bass tonight with our worship team. the cats deserve to eat, but i know they aren't starving. the tv in this room allows me to listen to the service which i've already sat through once. i'm rethinking this whole site because i don't feel it's been much of a testimony to my beliefs. but, my conclusion at this is that every christian is a real person with problems just like anyone else out there. i hope you will see that too.

::it's dark outside::

::it's dark outside::
josh & i are convinced that our neighbors are perfect. they have their Christmas lights up already. they planted their own grass and wired in additional sprinklers. "it wasn't that hard" they said. they have planted flowers and have a well groomed yard. ours, on the other hand...the only thing i'm growing in addition the the pre-installed generic landscaping are weeds and rocks. lots of 'em. and i'd rip out our little 3x5 plot of lawn that our generous neighbors mow every couple of weeks, but that would require a commitment to put something in its place. I'm not ready for that.

i am looking forward to the holidays though. this is my favorite time of year.

(feeling uncreative tonight, i will end on that thought, however, if you would like to be on my mailing list & be notified every time there is something new to read, fantastic or otherwise, please email me.)

::note to self::

(disclaimer...what you are about to read may make absolutely no sense...)
start over, cut hair super short, color with obnoxious red dye, try to find hip clothes/makeup to go with hair. thusfar i am unsuccessful. i'm going through this stage right now where i'm not so sure of my next big thing in life. whatever it is, it's comforting to know certain things will not change as i do: josh, for instance, will still love me no matter what. this house will not uproot itself & we are not going to move anywhere in the foreseeable future. and my friends who are my friends will still love me...even if we don't talk as often as we used to. life is so much bigger than the myopic view i knew of just over 5 years ago. before i met my husband. it's amazing how that word sounds when you speak it out loud. i love it. josh is my life-long adventurer. my time after time fighter of crime. (i don't know what that means, but it sounds nice). to twist a quote from a movie, sometimes talking about life is like dancing about architecture. sometimes you just have to get into the middle of it and just be there. in real time. paying attention to everything going on around you...and participating in it. life is not a spectator sport, as they say.

josh & i are schlepping it on our own this thanksgiving. i kind of like it actually. he recently pointed out that i have this "customer service laugh" thing that i do, which is hilarious, really. i think it stems from nervousness, or wanting to be nice & not getting angry when i have a problem with something...i'm not sure. all i know is that i can't pretend to do it. also, i think it can only be done when i'm on the phone with someone. and i caught myself using this fake laughter with my very own sister in avoidance of a difficult question that was posed today: why aren't we spending today with a family member??? well, i don't know really, but i like it. today has been nice, and josh IS my family. so there. and the fake laughter has to stop. it's driving me nuts.

::i have magic powers::

...is the title of the sam brown picture i have posted in my cubicle. sadly, it's in black & white. right now if i tried to print that from home, everything would be shades of pink: i am out of blue & yellow. i'll bet THAT would be interesting. one of these days i'll stop being so lazy.

i think i am recovered from whatever suddenly snuck up on me last week. i have been made inordinately aware of my heartbeat though. as a result, i startle myself at the least bit of inconsistency in rhythm.

on the more pensive side....
josh's sweet aunt is ill with cancer, which has progressed more rapidly than expected. there's nothing like the threat of death to wake you up to reality. we are all going to die. i am in no way making light of the current family goings-on; but this is where my thinking stems from. death is my least favorite subject. there were times i thought i didn't want to exist, but those were temporary instances in my late teens. maturity does wonders for perspective. as does a healthy dose of the Bible. i used to be afraid of death, too. in fact, some fears rear their ugly head time and again. why? because this is it. our one and only chance. make it a good one. and suddenly a college degree doesn't seem as important if you're doing something that makes you happy. i am happy now, i stinkin' love this job. however i think i still want to be a teacher. in some ways, i already am because of teaching sunday school. therefore, the balance is there & i don't feel so depressed about not pursuing my education. high school really can lie to you sometimes. i have done quite well in the work force with my instinctive self-motivation without a bachelor's. contentedness has settled in and i think i will stew on this for a while.

happy thanksgiving & God bless you.

::closers::

nearing the end of a hectic work week. left early today because i felt ill. strangest thing: on the phone w/ a client & my heart starts pounding so heart I thought it would pop out of my chest.... the first thing that comes to mind is heart attack, but it was so brief that the fear of such a thing was swiftly erased. i've been tripping on it all this evening though. that'll teach me to remember to take my breaks....though i have never experienced anything like this before & have worked some pretty high pressure jobs (in my humble orange county opinion).

so, i'm left to ponder mortality & be thankful i am alive today--yes, it was THAT strange of an experience. i am exhausted. though i would like to write more, i think my fatigue is holding me back. nighty night~~~~(the following is by sam brown, cleverly entitled "i think your cat is drunk") very funny.

Also put up a link to another spa that is VERY reasonable in price & am told that they give the BEST massages there by a coworker who goes....a couple times a MONTH!!! lucky her, that's all i have to say. living in the lap of luxury. josh & i hit houston's afterwards and then i prompty fell asleep upon arriving home. i think i remembered to brush my teeth....

::stranger than fiction ii::

went to souplantation again. tonight someone was having a birthday party for their kids. at souplantation. did i mention it was a birthday party?

i choose to alternate between dessert & dinner. the last moments included apple cobbler and pepperocini. i'm NOT pregnant, i swear. i think justin was horribly disgusted by this though. josh & i eat pepperocini straight out of the jar. man, those are so good.

i'm full. time to incubate.

::the sounds of silence::

no music today @ work. oh how wonderful this is. i had started a set list to see if i could successfully log the songs they rotate every 7.75 hours, but i will happily abandon that to this....nothingness. happy friday!

creativity has been depressingly downsized in my world. i am left to ponder the meaning of life in my sleep and it never fails that i remember nothing in the morning except that i have just been rudely awoken by the sounds of bill handel and am radio. undoubtably i will hear the same thing i hear every morning, in odd, groundhog day fashion: the traffic report. traffic is so horrible. i love carpooling with josh, yet, oddly enough, i don't think i ever want to take the wheel in the morning ride to work.

so there you have it. i'm all out of vvvoomph. it's friday. time for a movie, dinner, and relaxation. cheers!
